GarageBand

For our film opening me and my partner decided create out own music but using similar sounds from different films as out inspiration such as The Orphanage as their music is very creepy like and builds suspense.

The Orphanage trailer

As my partner was busy with her other subjects I created the music on my own after school using Garageband, a program where you have different instrument sounds to create your own music. It took me a while to find good instruments which will be suitable for my music as I wanted a specific piano tune as the piano creates a very horror type tune as is used widely in most horror films.

I didn't just want a piano beat in the music but also a drum beat and string instruments. I found a really deep string instrument tune which I used as it was very good and used it half way through the piano tune to signify tension building up. Then as the music grew closer to the end i put in a deep drum beat to signify something about to happen. This part of the music will take place when the female character is slowly walking to wards her bedroom.

The last part of the music, both the drum and string music stop and the piano is left playing on it's own which will be when the character is about to open the wardrobe. When the little girl in the mask jumps out at her that's when a suspense type tune blasts out loud and then then the music stops.

This is a screen shot of our music on Garageband.

This is out music which will be playing when our main character comes closer to the wardrobe where something is hiding.
