Evaluation - Question 3 - What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Our film would be firstly shown at a film festival around England and America so that we can get the feedback of the audience if they liked it or it wasn't up to scratch. If the film got a good review it would be distributed through Crystal Clear Productions and Warner Brothers who would be partners in distributing the film out.
Distributing our film would include that we make a trailer which will be posted on websites, mostly YouTube as this video sharing website is one the worlds largest so a lot of viewers will be able to watch the trailer and be interested in the film. Another website which our film would feature is Facebook which is one of the worlds fastest social networking site having up to 500 million user active from July 2010. this site is used by people all round the world which can see the Facebook page for the film and also comment on what they think about it. Other ways which we will distribute our film by is making movie posters for online and billboard based.
Once our film has got enough viewers interested in it, a date will be given out for the release and a premiere will be held.
Evaluation - Question 1/part 2 - In what ways does your media product use, develop or change forms and conventions od real media products?
Seven
1.The effect of the writing over lapping each other gives the effect of a blurry vision or the screen being shaken up. Also the number 7 used instead of V is a good technique shown. The film titles straight away get the audience hooked on to what is being shown as it makes people question what does it mean.
2.The medium shot of the drawing of the hands could connote that it is to do with faith, that maybe the film is about religion.
3.The flapping of the book pages connotes mystery in to what has the book got written in it.
4.The fingers introduces the character to the audience. They show dirty fingers which is making something connoting either he is up to something or that he's committed a crime due to the dirty fingers.
5.The tiny font style and it being in lower case and caps at the same time makes the writing look devious and also how it is shown fuzzy on the screen connotes crazy which can refer to the film being a crazy and out of control.
6.The tools being used in the opening can connote murder weapons as we can yet see what they are being used for.
7.The close up images suggest that this person maybe stalking them of the people in the images are someone who they care for. A relationship between them which may have not gone so good.
8.This close up suggests that the setting it in a workshop as there are many tools being used by the person.
9.The effect of the pen writing on the page as it is then seen fading like a shadow of the pen.
Evaluation - Question 1/part 1 - In what ways does your media product use, develop or change forms and conventions od real media products?
1.Our title of our film already gives a mystery to the film through the words used, “Don’t look back”. Like other thriller openings our film title also appear at the end of the film opening. The use of the colour's signifies what sort of genre it is such our film title colour is red as it is a horror thriller or conventions such as blood or death.
2.The setting suggests where the film is set. I used a high angle shot to get the view of the street and then it went in to a panning shot which shows the rest of the street. Many thrillers start off showing the scenery of the film at the beginning of the film such as in the film “Mirrors” the camera went across New York City.
3.The mask is our main prop as it features a lot in the opening in the newspapers. This gives a mystery to the film because it questions audiences what does the mask have to do with the film. The camera zooming in to the mask makes it look dominant to the audience to make them feel a bit scared.
4.We’ve used many different camera works such as this one which is a long shot of the character. The camera follows her behind in a long shot to signify that something is following her.
5.We used red for the colour's of our titles because is connotes death and also horror which is a main part of our film. The style of our titles is a red colour which then goes in to a white glow giving the titles a blurry effect.
6.The story is mostly told by the newspaper clips at the start as we zoomed in to the headlines of the newspapers to show what has happened so far.
7.The zoomed clip of the heading “Young girl” suggest that it’s a mystery type film also that is could be murder. This shows the genre of the film as a mystery film also a thriller as these genres have story lines where murder takes place.
8.Our character is first introduced in a close up of her face to show her expressions as she is worried someone is following her. Having a female character as the lead makes the film relate to most of our audiences who are women from the teen ages to adult age.
9.We made our production logo shatter as one of our effects in our opening. We made our logo shatter just like how glass would shatter as our logo name is Crystal Clear.

Student Film Research
Strengths
It was very catchy the background music of the clock and how the camera spinned in a circle just like the hands on the clock.
Weakness
Strength
The effects used to speed up the walking in he woods was very clever and the way it was used gave it a creepy feel to the opening. Also the colour's used to change some of the frames.
Weakness
There wasn't any thing wrong with this opening that I can see.

Preliminary Task
Out preliminary task was to video an interview where we use 3 camera shots to show that we understand how these camera shots work. The 3 camera shots which we had to use was a match on action shot, a shot reverse shot and a 180 degree shot used once in the interview including the normal camera shots and angles such as a establishing shot, a close up, a medium, a long and also if we wanted a panning shot of the room which we filmed in.
The task went well but we had a few problems on knowing how the shots were used which got us mixed up. The interview we did was a formal job interview where we used a medium shot of doors which our interviewee came through then the camera following her across the room to the desk where the interviewer was sat. Then we used a 180 degree shot on the characters going on to a shot reverse shot of the 2 characters speaking their dialogue.
Unfortunately out match on action shot was not very good so we didn’t put it on our preliminary. Also our shot reverse shot was not perfect as we shot from a long shot instead of a medium shot of the characters faces as they spoke. Another mistake we did was that out 180 degree shots were not 180 degree as we shot from the same shoulder of each character.
Match on Action shot -
Match on Action shot -
A match on action, a technique used in film editing, is a cut that connects two different views of the same action at the same moment in the movement. By carefully matching the movement across the two shots, filmmakers make it seem that the motion continues uninterrupted. For a real match on action, the action should begin in the first shot and end in the second shot.

Shot reverse shot -
Conventional technique of cinematography and editing for the filming of dialogue. In the shot reverse shot sequence, the camera frames each speaker in medium close-up as he or she recites a line of dialogue. The shoulder of the listener can often be seen, slightly out of focus on the edge of the frame, while the camera is focused on the face of the speaker then cutting to the the next person as they speak.

180 degree shot -
The 180° rule is a basic guideline in film making that states that two characters in the same scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other. If the camera passes over the imaginary axis connecting the two subjects, it is called crossing the line. The new shot, from the opposite side, is known as a reverse angle.

Video Diary
Well so far in our film opening project we have just finished out rough cut of the film and have up loaded it on to YouTube and now just waiting for some feedback from people to put on our blog. It’s been a tough project as mostly I’ve done most of the work while my partner hasn’t helped much except give ideas. I hoped that she would at least know how to use the soft ware’s on the Macs but she hasn’t so I was left to edit out film and make the music for it. I still find it hard to use the soft ware’s such as final cut pro and after effects because there’s so many different technical things on their which I don’t know how to use so most of the time I need the teachers help to guide me through the applications but I soon pick up on to use them. I’ve still got a lot of amount of work to add to my blog which I have done but I have used PowerPoint for most of them so I just need to upload the work to slide share which gives me the embedded codes to transfer them on to my blog. After that I’m ready to start on my evaluation which I hope to finish my the 17th December.

Opening Titles
A step by step of how my credits/titles appear on my film and how they disappear off.
Firstly the titles appear in red fading in.
The titles then starts to go blurry in a white glow which makes the titles hard to see but gives a good effect
After the glow the writing appears back in red with the blur fading our along with the white glow.
The writing appears fully back in the red colour which then starts to fade of the screen.

The writings fully disappear fading out for the next set of titles to appear.

Our Production Logo
The first video is of my production logo, Crystal Clear Productions, which I made on my own using After effects on the Macs. This version is just showing the effects I used with out no sound.
This second version is the finished version. This version of my production logo has sound on which I got from Garage Band. The sound of this is not what i wanted at first which was the sound of shattered glass as it would have fit perfectly with the logo as my logo shatters but finding this sound of a space shuttle creates a different effect which is cool.

Production Logos
I've researched in to different famous production logos so that I have an idea of how my production logo will look like. This will help me to see how most production logos have been designed and how it represents them and a film company.
The name of my production logo is Crystal Clear Productions and For my production logo I have an idea that I want the the words to be in clear white colour with a back lighting and then suddenly the words shatter in to pieces of glass flying to wards the screen and the screen then goes black.

After Effects
To make out production logo we used a softwear on the Macs which is called After effects. This softwear helps you to create openings for films with out filming anything.
Practice Test Lesson
Our first lesson using the softwear was Friday the 12th November where we were taught my the technition teacher how to use the softwear so that we are familiour with it and can use it our selves when making our proper production logo.

We got help in the end and was tuaght face to face how it worked but then again it didn't come out like everyone else's and we got a bit stuck on what most of the functions were. We were told to then go experiment with the softwear but ended up runining our practise logo.
However we were told that we could come to study support after school every tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to get help from the teacher's and create the final production logo.
GarageBand
For our film opening me and my partner decided create out own music but using similar sounds from different films as out inspiration such as The Orphanage as their music is very creepy like and builds suspense.
The Orphanage trailer
As my partner was busy with her other subjects I created the music on my own after school using Garageband, a program where you have different instrument sounds to create your own music. It took me a while to find good instruments which will be suitable for my music as I wanted a specific piano tune as the piano creates a very horror type tune as is used widely in most horror films.

The last part of the music, both the drum and string music stop and the piano is left playing on it's own which will be when the character is about to open the wardrobe. When the little girl in the mask jumps out at her that's when a suspense type tune blasts out loud and then then the music stops.
This is out music which will be playing when our main character comes closer to the wardrobe where something is hiding.

Behind the scene
This is a shot of me holding the camera as we were getting ready to shoot the bedroom scene.
Here I was testing the camera out in the room to see is the lighting was correct enough so that our shots don't come out too dark.

Setting and Prop
Setting
Setting of our film will be in a house of my team member where we will be filming most of our shots. Also we will be filming outside her house for the outside shots and go to the local park for one shot from out storyboard.
The hall way of the house where the shots of the character arriving from work is taken and also where she hears the loud bang up stairs.
This is where the camera follows the character up the stairs and then takes another view from the from of her as shes going up the stairs.

Prop
We have one main prop in out film which is the mask which will be worn by the dead little girl. The mask is being worn to hide the identity of the girl and also it give's the film a more scary tone to find a person wearing a mask hiding in your wardrobe.
Character Profile
Our main Character
Yinka who is my team member will be playing the main character who is the lady in the opening who is being followed by a ghostly presence and she will also be the little girl in the wardrobe for the time being as we could not find someone to play this part. She will be crouched down on the floor of the wardrobe so that you don't notice that the character is a teenage girl instead of a little girl.

Target Audience Profile
Certificate of our film
We have decided to give our film a certificate of 15 as our film is a thriller horror film which has a few gory bit in but not too much that it will scare our target audience. our film will contain small amount of strong language which is suitable for teens. We decided to make it a 15 film and not a 12 as it wouldn't be much appropriate for minors because of the swearing and the minor violent which may be still too much for 12 year old and younger.
Who will it appeal to?
Our film is a thriller horror film so it will appeal to both genre groups which is a good thing as it will attract more views. A lot of teens will be seeing the film as from my research i found out that teenagers and young adults are the most views of these genres as they like the gore and suspension. This is also because they like the fear when they watch these types of film.
Gender
We feel that our film might appeal to the female audience because our main character is a woman and this will in a way relate to them seeing as they are the same sex. Male audience will too watch the film as is contains gory scenes and other conventions in a horror film.
Age
Our main target audience is aged ranged from 15 to 25 year old as the certificate is 15. However we think that more older age groups will also watch our film because it may appeal to them. The film does not necessarily just be for 15 - 25 year old but also the older ages too.
Race
The film will mainly be aimed to the English and the western culture because it will have qualities of a British horror film but we will try to get our film shown also in America to get the rating more high. Some films which our film will relate to will be "The Ring", "The Orphanage" and "The sixth sense" as they feature mainly children as a victim or the murderers. We have made sure that our film doesn't offend any races so we have featured a few races in our film such as Black, Asian and White characters.
Class and interests
We think that the class range would be from low to high class as it doesn't really point to any class. We want all class's to watch our film as it's open to any one. Some audience may have similar interests due to the liking of similar films.

Types of Sound
- Ambient sound
- Non diegetic sound
- Diegetic sound
Horror and thriller films use all three sounds to create a sense of suspense and build tension so that views are grabbed in. They use ambient sound and enhance it more so that the surrounding sounds of the environment becomes more powerful which makes a creepy tone to the film. This is also done with diegetic sounds.
Non diegetic sound is used to build tension of whats happening such as loud string music for when some thing has happened or a mix of scary tone music for when someone is getting closer to something and they are given a shock.

Thriller Conventions
Thriller films should build suspense and tension towards the audience to get them gripped in to the plot of it. Conventions which should be used in thriller films are the themes of crime, murder, mystery and violence.
Quick cuts to create excitement among the audience, keep them fixed to their seats. they are used to create a sense of fear and panic between the characters in the film towards whats happening.
Camera movements help to create an image of a person or part of the film. High angle shots of the civilians show weakness and lack of power whereas low angle shots show more power to the person.
Mise en scene of what objects and background scenery can be seen gives a purpose to most parts of the film.

Our Proposal Continued
Inspiration
Few movie trailers which have inspired us to come up with our own film. We have chosen these two trailers because the music used creates suspense and gives the trailer a creepy mood and also the story lines are similar to our film opening as they include paranormal activity and have a mystery in. Also they include children as a main part in the films which is something our film does as well.
The Ring and The Orphanage are a very good example to feature children and make it also scary at the same time.
